There is a fallacious rumor going around that there will be a great revival before JESUS comes for HIS church before Tribulation. That might be a great concept IF IT WERE BIBLICAL, BUT IT’S NOT.
The Bible gives many scriptures that speaks to the contrary, in fact it will be the “little flock,” “a remnant,” who JESUS is coming for. To get this let’s first look at the Seven Churches JESUS addresses in Revelation 2 and 3 that comprise the “church age.” Of seven churches (not manmade denominations) JESUS declares the only ones who are ready for HIS return is PHILADELPHIA (and some overcomers from some of the other churches). Now we see Philadelphia in scripture is called a church with LITTLE STRENGTH—they are not a “mega-church” or great in numbers: Revelation 3:7-8 (KJV): To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of the One who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door, which no one can shut. FOR YOU ONLY HAVE A LITTLE STRENGTH, yet you have kept My word and have not denied My name.
Then next, let’s look at the scripture on who exactly in general is found worthy of being in heaven and scripture over and over says its FEW:
Matthew 20:16 (KJV): So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, BUT FEW CHOSEN.
Luke 13:23-24 (KJV): Then said one unto him, Lord, ARE THERE FEW THAT BE SAVED? And HE said unto them, STRIVE TO ENTER IN AT THE STRAIT GATE: FOR MANY, I SAY UNTO YOU, WILL SEEK TO ENTER IN, AND SHALL NOT BE ABLE.
1 Peter 3:20 (KJV): Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of GOD waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein FEW, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
Matthew 24:37 (KJV): BUT AS THE DAYS OF NOAH WERE, SO SHALL ALSO THE COMING OF THE SON OF MAN BE.
Matthew 7:13-14 (KJV): Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and NARROW IS THE WAY, WHICH LEADETH UNTO LIFE, and FEW THERE BE THAT FIND IT.
1 Peter 4:18 (KJV): And if the RIGHTEOUS SCARECLY BE SAVED, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
Luke 17:28-30 (KJV): Likewise also AS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF LOT; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. EVEN THUS SHALL IT BE IN THE DAY WHEN THE SON OF MAN IS REVEALED.
Philippians 2:12 (KJV): Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, WORK OUT YOUR OWN SALVATION WITH FEAR AND TREMBLING.
Matthew 24:12-13 (KJV): Because of the multiplication of wickedness, THE LOVE OF MOST WILL GROW COLD. But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved.
In fact, at the time of the LORD’s return, there is nothing said about large numbers being found faithful—in fact the opposite is in scripture: Luke 18:8 (KJV): I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
Then we see at the time of the LORD’s coming this is said about those in the earth: 2 Timothy 4:3 (KJV): For the time will come when men will not tolerate sound doctrine, but with itching ears they will gather around themselves teachers to suit their own desires. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine.
This scripture lines up with The Great Falling away we see going on at the close of the church age which is the opposite of a concept of a “great revival.” For information on that watch our video on the same topic:
