The UNFORGIVABLE SIN

I began to believe (in error) that I had committed the unforgivable sin of blaspheming the HOLY SPIRIT probably at one point in my life and I believed that I must be forever doomed. I was carrying this burden for a few weeks—I was sick and beside myself with the lowest grief, I have ever experienced—personal separation from the LORD. I tried to read books about the HOLY SPIRIT to console myself—but I never felt completely assured.

My son was part of a ministry team, and the group was going to a program at Olivette University in Illinois. During a Saturday morning chapel service, about 300 people who were there for this festival had gathered to hear the minister who gave a very Spirit-filled message. In the middle of this service, the man stopped cold and looked out in the audience and said that he had a message for someone here who believes they committed the unforgivable sin. He proceeded to say that if that had happened that you would not be at this program. Then he proceeded again with his message as if nothing had happened.

I was dumbfounded—and I wondered it that message was for me—I looked around me totally stunned at what I had just heard–given the torment I had been going through previously: but I claimed it as my own and found the relief that I so desired when I could not find it any other way. I can hardly write this copy at the thought of being forever separated from GOD and the extreme relief from knowing that GOD was still with me. You see the unforgivable sin is the continual pushing away of the drawing of the HOLY SPIRIT of us to CHRIST—and if you push the HOLY SPIRIT and HIS work away too often you may grieve HIM and HE may depart—and then you are in trouble because without CHRIST’s FREE gift of Salvation NO ONE can be saved and so your sin would be “unforgivable.” WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT to draw us to CHRIST. So, if you feel drawn to CHRIST—you’d better run to HIM because it is the HOLY SPIRIT opening your heart…

As far as blaspheming the HOLY SPIRIT, you cannot keep pushing HIM away–because you don’t know when HE will determine that enough is enough. Many people come to me and believe they have committed the unforgivable sin of blaspheming the HOLY SPIRIT and it is too late for them. If they are concerned about it–they have not done it because the HOLY SPIRIT is still drawing them because they are even concerned or care… There are many people who are not concerned at all whether they have blasphemed the HOLY SPIRIT and HIS drawing them to CHRIST for salvation–they could care less–so these are the people who are in the most in danger.
