Matthew 16:23-24: Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. “Far be it from You, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to You!” 23But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me. For you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.” 24Then Jesus told His disciples, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.…
What does this passage in the Bible have to do with watching for the rapture? Well actually a lot. You see, Peter in this passage wanted his future plan for JESUS to work out–he wanted JESUS to deal with the Romans, the Pharisees, and to rule over the Jews. But that was NOT the plan for JESUS. JESUS had the big picture and if HE hadn’t died on the cross, mankind would be lost. And so, Peter was not thinking within the Will of GOD, but his own will, which is Satan’s will.
This is exactly why we need to acknowledge what JESUS did on the cross for us, repent for our sin and believe that our own will is superior to GOD’s. GOD’s will is for people to watch for HIS return and knowing the times. Instead, people refuse to pay attention because just like Peter they put their own future plans before GOD’s and that puts them focusing on Satan’s plans.
So, if you aren’t watching for the return of CHRIST, you are outside of GOD’s will and in your own will focused on Satan. You’ve got to get focused on JESUS, being in the Will of the FATHER, filled with the SPIRIT, watching, and getting ready, you don’t want to be told by the LORD, “Get Behind ME, Satan.”
