ASK AND YE SHALL RECEIVE

One evening, my husband Steve and I were coming from a meeting and we both were starving so we decided to stop at a restaurant. Now we were the only ones waiting to be seated up front and not far from us were not one, but even two waitresses, nearby where we were standing. We waited as these waitresses flitted around, from one table to the next, seemingly completely oblivious that we were standing waiting for a table within a few feet of them. My husband finally said that he was tired of waiting and we should go. However, I insisted to wait. We waited some more and the servers who were so near us, never even acknowledged we were there. It was strange and it was as if we were invisible. Therefore, we agreed to leave and go eat somewhere else.

We went to another restaurant nearby and the host gave us a table quickly. Now, I also want to mention that two days prior I moved a stack of Bibles in my dining room to my car trunk. I just wanted them out of the dining room. That night at the restaurant, for some reason, I decided to bring my Bible to the table. After dinner, our server came to our table and exclaimed, “Oh, I see you read the Bible.” I thought, “Well okay” and then she said that just that day she learned that she had leukemia and she was the single mother to two young children. She then asked us if we would pray for her.

Well we did pray for her and I asked for her phone number so I could stay in touch with her and pray for her. So we swapped phone numbers. I also asked her if she would like a Bible too, that I just happened to have an extra one in my car (remember the Bibles I put in my trunk from my dining room?). She said she would like to have one and so I gave her one to keep.

Now on the way home, Steve was saying that he thought it was strange how the servers at the first restaurant just refused to seat us even though we were close to them—they did not even act as if they saw us. Moreover, he thought the whole thing was amazingly coincidental. I told him that just that morning I had prayed to God that I was not very good at approaching people, but if He wanted to send someone my way, then I would talk to them.
