JOSEPH VS. EVIL

We get requests to pray for and with regards to different kinds of sin, addictions, and trials leading to wrong decisions. To be honest with you, sin cannot be conquered through a lukewarm faith/relationship with the LORD. It just can’t. The flesh is weak. And with regards to sin, the world views evil from the perspective of things that people do to each other that they don’t like, but sin is also about the evil people do to GOD.

If you go back into the Old Testament, you will find the character Joseph in the Bible whose brothers threw him into a pit. Later he is taken to Egypt where we find him working for a high-level Egyptian known as Potiphar. After some time, we find Potiphar’s wife attracted to Joseph. And not too long she tempts him to take advantage of him. This is where we find one of the most significant teachings of sin in the Bible. Joseph, does something incredible–he runs from Potiphar’s wife and says, “How can I sin against my GOD?”

This was truly a defining moment when we learn the integrity of Joseph. This is truly a major lesson about resisting sin–Joseph’s desire to not hurt GOD ruled over the fleshly temptation to sin. So his passion for GOD was stronger than his passion to sin. And so there is the key to sin vs. righteousness. You cannot reject sin and the flesh for GOD if you do not cherish GOD. It was obvious that Joseph cherished GOD, more than a weakness to sin. His love for GOD ruled over his flesh and desire to sin. There is absolutely nothing new that Joseph had that cannot be had by anyone else today. It is through a love relationship with GOD, repentance, appreciation for HIS ways, the filling and power of the HOLY SPIRIT in the life through a full surrender of and exchange for the lost human will for the Will of the FATHER through acknowledging the work of JESUS on the cross, that anyone can reject sin in their life. Without a deep “knowing” of GOD aka intimacy with GOD, then there is no true motive to reject the longings of the flesh to sin. You have to know the LORD, to love HIM to the point that you don’t want to sin against HIM, the one you love. The more you grow to love GOD, the more you will begin to hate sin, like Joseph demonstrates in the Bible.  READ MATTHEW 7:21-23
